Professional athletes know the power of awareness. They are successful because they are disciplined in how to tap into this awareness at key moments. They have trained and trained and trained to develop the habit of tuning in and becoming completely aware. They love what they do.
Amateur athletes are also successful when they are aware. While they are not paid big salaries to do so, they do tune into their awareness because they find joy in the experience and success with their efforts. Sound familiar?
Someone once said that “The opposite of success is mediocrity.”
This is a pretty high-handed statement and challenge issued to us to pull away from settling, become more aware of what we want and drive ourselves to succeed.
So, what is success to you? It may be being more mindful of what’s important and taking time to focus on what matters and it. Success may be truly tuning in and not approaching life in a mediocre way.
It also may mean going big or going home.
Awareness and success do go hand in hand. If you find joy in what you do, this will come naturally. While every day is not filled with sunshine and rainbows, you should have the opportunity to have predominant joy.
Take some time today to mindfully reflect on what success is to you and perhaps. journal about it. Andfind joy and more success in your career by cultivating more awareness.
Need a little more inspiration? Here’s a wonderful definition of success.
What is Success?
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded.
