Start every day with gratitude for every single thing. I know that this isn’t easy, however if we live every day feeling frustrated by all the things that aren’t working in our lives or that upset us, we can’t get the good stuff. Trust me on this one. Start out every day by waking up and saying “thank you, thank you, thank you, I am so grateful for a new day.”
Take better care of yourself, starting right now. It’s so easy to put ourselves on the back burner, eat on the run, skip the exercise class, ditch the five minutes of meditation, sleep late and miss your girls’ night out. Leaving yourself on the back burner leaves you tired, unmotivated, stressed out and without the ability to focus on your dreams and goals.
Get up 20 minutes earlier every day. Fill yourself with your positive affirmations, ten pages of a great book and review your goals. I recommend reading one book a month. Focus on growing yourself, your knowledge, expanding your horizons and watch your life change for the better.
Look for the positive in everything.I mean everything. Even when bad stuff happens, ask yourself, “What are three good things about this situation?” Write them down or say them out loud.
Listen to your voice.First the one you can actually hear. Is she critical, angry or complaining? I found myself calling my mom every day just to vent and then I realized I was not putting very good energy into the universe by starting my day with complaints about my life. So I just stopped. If I don’t have something nice to say I just don’t share it even with my mom. Secondly, listen to the voice you can’t hear, the quiet one that is really driving the bus. Stop and listen to it when you get up, are making coffee, doing the laundry and getting ready for your day. That one is often the most negative. My advice is to “thank it for sharing” and then talk back. Yes, talk back to it and say, “This isn’t serving me now” and replace it with positive affirmation. I am getting better every day. Abundance in the universe is pouring into my life.
Do something you love. If not for your job or profession but for yourself. What makes your soul sing. Is it gardening, cooking, climbing mountains, traveling, reading? Take that acting class, sign up for the cooking class, book group, or book that vacation to Peru. If you are waiting, it’s time to stop. We only have one life and it is flying by. Figure outhow to squeeze in the things that bring you joy.
Share your appreciation.Tell everyone you come in contact with every day that you appreciate them. Tell your loved ones you love them, every time you speak with them. Say “thank you” to everyone. The waitress, the garbage man, the clerk at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Go out there and make the day brighter for everyone you meet today and every day. Make it a habit. It’s amazing how you will feel for making others feel better.
Grow every day.We came here to get better, to follow our heart and learn to reach our full potential. Just like nature, trees don’t get “stuck.” They keep growing until it’s over. Make sure to learn something new every day. Take a new course, join that club, stop ‘vegging’ out with Bravo and the Kardashians on E. Turn off the T.V.
Find your passion and make sure you are living it. Don’t stay stuck in a job, career or marriage if you are miserable. Get out of your comfort zone and follow your heart. I don’t mean sell all of your belongings and ditch your family and your kids to live in the desert (unless that is really calling out to you), but you can take steps every day toward a new direction. Do something every day that is just a little scary and outside of your comfort zone.Call someone, go somewhere, join a new group.
Just say yes to your best life now, today. Practice saying yes to everything, just for 90 days. I promise you will find your life in a new and exciting place. After all, isn’t that what living your best life is all about?
With love and gratitude for each and every one of you.
