Recently a client of mine shared with me a story about their heart rate instantly skyrocketing and sending them to the emergency room. What a scary situation. While this can unfortunately happen to individuals with health concerns, or be indicative of an unidentified health concern, when it’s related to stress (although it often always is) it is as severally troublesome.
Work and life put an undue pressure on all of us to be at our best and perform at our peak at all times. With the onset of Lean Business operating principles, economic slumps, increasing life and work expectations and rising conflict in the workplace, there’s no wonder all of us suffer from stress.
I want to urge you to explore your ideal resting heart rate with your care provider. At the same time, discuss what you can do to ensure that you have established resources in place to help you avoid the undue stress that can set your heart rate to rising.
Mindful meditation is an excellent tool to help keep you calm when you need it most. Learning how to use deep breathing exercises when faced with stress will not only help you think clearly and stay calm but more importantly will help you stay healthy.
