“A healthy career” is a phrase I’ve been using for over a decade to describe the blending of professional and personal success. To be more specific, you’re in a healthy career when you’re happily engaged in your work; in a career that provides you with ample opportunities for continued growth, empowerment and balance; and you use those elements to their fullest while taking good care of your personal health and wellbeing.
You may find that you can say “Yes, yes and yes” to everything above on most days, but there are times when nothing about your work embodies a healthy career. Maybe you’re having a rough day. Perhaps something outside of your control is bringing you down and you’re struggling to stay engaged. While I’d like to say that this is normal, and it is, when more days of challenge overtake those days of health and happiness, that’s usually a signal that something needs to change.
Unfortunately for some, “rough days” are their constant state of work. They don’t feel empowered or have any work/life balance and there are limited opportunities for advancement or growth. So, yes, that’s also a clear signal that something needs to change.
Hence the birth of this great space called A Healthy Career which launches you on your personal journey of positivity, action and well-being. You can’t be in any positive state of health and wellbeing without working on it every single day. And when you do, you’re also contributing to your overall success in your professional and personal life.
