The Amazing Benefits Of Rebounder Exercises

If you want to burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time and not put any strain on your joints, then a trampoline is the way to go. A person weighing 150 pounds can easily burn around 53 calories in just 10 minutes of jumping on a trampoline. And the more you weigh, the more calories you will burn in those 10 minutes. Now, where did I get all this information from? Well, if you research rebounder fitness or trampoline parks, you will get a whole bunch of information that states that you can burn approximately 1,000 calories in one hour of a rebounder workout/jumping on a trampoline.

All of these claims are credited to studies conducted by NASA who has done extensive research in rebounders while training their astronauts. As quoted by NASA, “Rebound Exercise is the most efficient, effective form of exercise yet devised by man.”

Just because this type of exercise burns a lot of calories doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s easy to do. To jump on a trampoline for 60 minutes straight is very exhausting and only those with excellent physical stamina can achieve that rigorous amount of jumping. When I was an instructor, I taught Trampoline Jump twice a week for one full hour. Even with my stamina and endurance, I could NOT jump for 60 minutes straight. I would have to start our warm up with light jumps on the trampoline and then intensify it little by little.

I also incorporated light weights and made them come off the trampoline to do some bicep curls, shoulder presses, or other forms of exercises that did not incorporate jumping on the rebounder. Then, we would get back on the trampoline and jump for a few more minutes and get off and do lunges with one leg on the trampoline and switch off. I always had my clients jump for 5-10 minutes straight then do another form of exercise for 5-8 minutes and get back on. I had to teach the class in this format to appease all the different fitness levels. I made it harder for those athletes by incorporating heavier weights and/or more repetitions and my newbies had modified exercises.

But rebounder exercise is a lot of fun, you can do it anywhere and is a great activity to do with family and friends.

All in all, rebounders are definitely a great form of exercise that anyone can do in the privacy of their home, rebounder classes, or while jumping with their kiddos in big trampoline parks! Give it a try and feel like a kid again or maybe not (wink).
